The feed-in tariff (FIT) is an incentive scheme that is designed to encourage the development of renewable energy sources. Several sources of energy, such as fossil fuels, renewable energy sources, and nuclear fuels, are used to generate electricity. Electric power systems are developed and operated on landscapes that dictate the type of transmission system and the available sources of energy. They cost billions of dollars, taking decades to build, with typical asset lives spanning from a quarter to half a century.
