Supertall building structures have unique challenges and characteristics with respect to their design and construction. Advances in analysis and design techniques, material properties, and construction methods have fostered an increase in the number of supertall structures being designed and built today. The last decade has seen a record number of these types of buildings constructed, including the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
