East Indies. The tinted areas represent the shallow continental shelves of Sundaland and northern Australia, drawn at the 660-ft (200-m) isobath. The western boundary of Wallacea is Wallace's Line of 1863. The eastern boundary is Lydekker's Line, which is the western limit of strictly Australian fauna. The heavy black dashed line is the boundary of continental Sundaland in the Early and Late Mesozoic. Triangles are volcanoes. Major tectonic plates are named.
