The term moiré refers to a pattern that may occur when repetitive structures (such as families of lines, curves, or dots) are superposed or viewed against each other. This pattern consists of a new structure of alternating dark and bright areas which is clearly observed at the superposition, although it does not exist in any of the original structures.
